Discover KYN Apparel

When the most powerful person in the province of Alberta decides to be dressed by a designer, that designer most definitely has the X- Factor. In 2018, KYN Apparel designed a colourful elegant top that complimented a black dress overflowing with a mix of green diamond-like African beads jewellery, for Premier Rachel Notley at the Black History Month reception in Edmonton. Little did Premier Notley knew that she was the face of a new African-Western blend in fashion.

With a passion for fashion that started as a hobby when she was a child in Burkina Faso, Alèthe Kaboré use to draw her own designs and take them to the tailor to make her dresses. This raw passion for design will continue and grow as she explores the world and lands in Edmonton where she calls home since 2006. She will create and sew dresses for herself to the admiration of family and friends who requested the same dresses and surprisingly, she will selflessly make even more beautiful ones for them.

In 2011, Kaboré decided to share her passion and skill with everyone who appreciated her unique blend of colourful, elegant, and impressing African and Western fabric into contemporary fashion. She launched her own clothing line called KYN Apparel with a mission to bring together African and western fabrics, hence, a new fashion trend has been birthed. A fashion which she could not find readily in Canadian fashion and retail stores.

Kaboré has a series of upcoming fashion exhibition across Alberta solidly booked; from fundraisers to fashion shows to seasonal markets, and exclusive exhibitions but may listen to proposals. Men and kids designs are an objective that she hopes to reach soon, as she works to serve more people.

She has the dream of not dressing only top female politicians and Albertans, but also want her designs on the red carpet sported by celebrities like Kerry Washington, Viola Davis, Danai Gurira, and anyone out there who want to wear her unique blend of fashion sense in the form of elegant exquisite designs.
